This is my finisher's medal from the Nike Women's Marathon that I received on October 21, 2007 in San Francisco, CA.  It was given to me by a man in a tuxedo as I crossed the finish line.  I even video taped it:

I still cry every time I watch that.  I can still hardly believe I did it.  I ran the HELL out of that marathon & even though it took me 7 hours, 10 minutes, & 25 seconds to get to that finish line, I'm more proud of those 7 hours than practically anything else I've done in my life.  It's not just that run, but everything I did to get there.

Day 8: Nike Women's Marathon FINSHER!

I've mentioned it here before, but I'm gonna talk about it again.  On October 21, I will be running the Nike Women's Marathon as a member of Team in Training.  In addition to running the marathon, I am also raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  This money will be used for things like cancer research, education, & patient & family aid.  This is all very personal for me because I lost my dear friend & brother-in-law, Dave to Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma 6-1/2 years ago.  He was 40.  Then just this summer, Meredith, the 27 year old sister of a very good friend of mine was diagnosed with Lymphoma.  (Thankfully the chemo is working & she's almost completely cancer-free!)   I'm running this race in their honor.

For this marathon, I am committed to raising a minimum of $4100 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  I've almost reached that goal, but could use a little help.  So I'm asking my Vox friends for help.  If you have the means & the will, please click here to go to my TNT website & make a donation.  It's fast, easy, & best of all... it's TAX DEDUCTIBLE!!  All donations must be received by the end of this week.
