How are you spending Christmas Day?
Here's how it went down:
- Mom rudely woke me up at 9 am to open presents. I wanted to sleep more. She said "you can sleep tomorrow!"
- Opened presents.
- Ate super yummy breakfast of scrambled eggs w/ cheese & salsa wrapped in tortillas & home made cinnamon rolls with fresh OJ.
- Bummed around the house in my jammies until about 3 pm while briefly chatting w/ siblings & grandmother on the phone throughout the day.
- Went for a quick 3.5 mile run around my parents' neighborhood.
- Showered.
- Had super yummy dinner of mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, rolls, & jello (no turkey for me... just my parents) with individual home made chocolate molten lava cakes for dessert. OMG... SO f'ing good!!!
- Left parents' house around 7:30 to meet several flickr friends for drinks (one of my friends' dad is in the hospital & needed cheering up).
- Hung out w/ friends at House of Pies until about 11 pm.
- Went to great Greek bar for cocktails til 12:30 am.

What are the 10 foods you must have in your refrigerator and/or your kitchen cabinet?
Submitted by Carol.
Since I hardly ever cook, my fridge/cabinets are rarely stocked. The items you can pretty much always find are Gatorade (for when I go running), skim milk, Cheerios, sugar free whole wheat bread, natural peanut butter, fat free low sugar vanilla yogurt (for my breakfast smoothies), various bags of frozen fruit (again for my breakfast smoothies), feta cheese, & Rosemary & Olive Oil Triscuits.
What would you consider to be your 15 minutes of fame so far in life?
It was really like 0.15 seconds of fame. I was in the first version of the Dave Matthews Band video for "Grey Street". They filmed the video at the Gorge Amphitheater in George, WA back in 2002. I was in the front row the 1st night of the 3 night stand & towards the end of the video, they had a quick close up of me smiling. It aired on MTV/VH1 a few times but then for whatever reason, the video was re-cut a bit & I was removed. Guess I wasn't hot enough. Oh well. I'm still in it, but I'm not nearly as noticeable as I was in the oringal. If you pause the video at 1:46 & look at the photos flashing by in the upper left corner, you'll see me in about 1 or 2 of them. They're photos we took at our camp site & sent in to DMB when they asked for video & photos from that weekend. I still feel sorta "famous" every time I watch the video just because I know I was there & because I remember what an AMAZING weekend that was. Truly one of the the BEST, most fun weekends of my life. I'm going back to the Gorge this year. I haven't been back since that first time in 2002. Although I know there is no way in the world this year will EVER be able to even come close to that last time, I'm still really looking forward to it. It'll be worth it just to walk up to the top of that hill & see this when I get to the top:

Would you go on vacation by yourself, and if so where would you go?

I've done it before & I'd do it again. The first time was when I was 24. My oldest brother, Brian, who lived in San Francisco at the time, had just gotten engaged & was having a big party at his new place to celebrate. I hadn't been to CA in a long time so I decided to hop on a plane & visit. I was there for about a week. I hung out w/ my brother & his fiancee a little bit & slept on their couch, but they had to work during the day, so I bought a bus pass & toured San Francisco on my own for days & days. It was fabulous! I walked for miles & miles & miles around that gorgeous city. It was the first time in my life that I ever really felt like an adult. It was SO liberating!
My latest was a 2 week solo trip to New York City in Dec. 2005. It was by far the best solo trip I've ever had. I have 3 siblings in the area so I stayed a few days in Princeton, & a few days in Long Island, but the majority of the time I stayed at my brother's apt. in the East Village of Manhattan. I bought a subway pass & saw New York City the way it should be seen... on foot. I swear, I must've walked every square mile of that city. It was FABULOUS! I saw museums, parks, works of art, beautiful old brownstones, incredible street musicians, ate fantastic food, went to Ground Zero & paid my respects, walked thru Chinatown, the Financial District, the Garment District... everywhere. But by far my favorite part was walking through a snow-covered Central Park on a gorgeous, crisp morning. It was so peaceful & SO beautiful. I found my way to Strawberry Fields, where I met an amazing man. His name was Gary, he's homeless & almost every day for the past 12 or 15 years, he has decorated the Imagine Mosaic in Strawberry Fields with flowers. I talked to him for a good 20 minutes as he created his latest peace symbol across the tiny black & white tiles. He told me stories of his life, his drug abuse, his marriage, his love of John Lennon & his music, how he found his way & became sober, & how he dreams of seeing his wife coming back to him. I wondered if many people ever stopped to talk to him. If they don't, they don't know what they're missing. He never asked me for a dime. All he asked was that I live a good life in peace & joy. It was a wonderful experience for me.
Two days later I returned to that very spot, again alone, only this time I was surrounded by hundreds of people who had gathered to celebrate the life of John Lennon on the 25th anniversary of his murder. The mosaic was covered in flowers, candles, cards, & pictures, people held peace signs, & the entire crowd was singing. I was able to make my way to the very spot I sat with Gary, right in front of the mosaic, I sat down & soaked it all in. Here I was in a city that is mostly known for being rough & tough, & its inhabitants rude & uncaring, but here I was surrounded by an enormous crowd, wanting nothing but love & peace. The feelings I felt are really indescribable. I was so moved I wanted to cry. That night goes down as one of the most memorable nights of my life.
I can't wait to go back.
What do you enjoy most about summer?
Submitted by Alex.
I f'ing HATE summer. It's too hot & humid here to do anything. I wish I could hibernate for all of August & September, cuz those are the WORST! Blech!
(I'm cranky today. I had to run 8.5 miles in this God forsaken heat this morning & now I've got a rash. Next week it's 10 miles. Why the hell did I choose a marathon that makes me train in the SUMMER? I must be crazy!)
What do you absolutely refuse to eat?
Anything that once had a heartbeat & anything pickled in any way, shape, or form.
Who are the last five people you called on your cell phone?
5. Dawn (trying to find out how much longer she'd be before she showed up at lunch)
4. Van (trying to find out how much longer she'd be before she showed up at lunch)
3. Voicemail
2. Kelly (to let her know I was on my way over to her house)
1. My parents (to tell them Kelly's dad died) :*(
