Show us a souvenir from a memorable trip.
I've mentioned it here before, but I'm gonna talk about it again. On October 21, I will be running the Nike Women's Marathon as a member of Team in Training. In addition to running the marathon, I am also raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This money will be used for things like cancer research, education, & patient & family aid. This is all very personal for me because I lost my dear friend & brother-in-law, Dave to Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma 6-1/2 years ago. He was 40. Then just this summer, Meredith, the 27 year old sister of a very good friend of mine was diagnosed with Lymphoma. (Thankfully the chemo is working & she's almost completely cancer-free!) I'm running this race in their honor.
For this marathon, I am committed to raising a minimum of $4100 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I've almost reached that goal, but could use a little help. So I'm asking my Vox friends for help. If you have the means & the will, please click here to go to my TNT website & make a donation. It's fast, easy, & best of all... it's TAX DEDUCTIBLE!! All donations must be received by the end of this week.
Thank you SO much for your help!! :)
Show us a victory.

What did you think you would never ever do... but did?

That's easy... finish a marathon! But on June 18, 2005 I did just that. 26.2 miles! And in Anchorage, Alaska of all places! I did it with Team in Training & raised over $5300 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society along the way. Race day was freezing cold, raining, muddy, mosquito infested & miserable. I got a nice case of hypothermia out of the deal, but I finished & that's all that matters! It was one of the most wonderful, amazing things I've ever done in my life. I cried my eyes out when I crossed that finish line. (Feel free to read all about it here.)
Since then I've done two 1/2 marathons (13.1 miles) & another full marathon. I'm hooked & I can't wait for my back to heal so I can get back in the game.
Here I am at the 1/2 way point of the Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage, AK. (9 miles of the course were up a mountain on an unpaved, mud trail. FUN!)

In honor of my friends who are currently running the Chicago Marathon, I will post finish line pics from the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon that we all ran this past June:
