I live in a quirky 80+ year-old craftsman-style apartment in a fairly old section of Houston. Time, Mother Nature, and "progress" have changed the face of this quaint neighborhood and only a few of the the old mosaic tile street markers have survived. This one, across the street from my building, has definitely seen better days but is still hanging on. On this particular corner, an old house on a huge lot that spanned an entire block was bulldozed in order to make way for 5 new cookie cutter townhomes that will likely sell for over $1 million each. It makes me sad to see how easily people will choose "progress" of preservation. UPDATE: This mosaic was completely demolished by the construction crew & no longer exists. :(
